This note may appear to be free advertising for the new GoodLife Fitness location in Woodstock, but actually it’s simply more promotion of good news for this community.
GoodLife Fitness has had a strong presence in Woodstock for many years, but with the soon-to-be-opened facility located at 645 Dundas Street, it represents a commitment to this community as the former home of Towers and Zellers in Woodstock has a new tenant.

The story about GoodLife Fitness has been well told, and can be read too in one of four books by David Patchell-Evans. The company’s CEO founded the chain of fitness centres in London in 1979, and today there’s more than 350 locations.
Woodstock’s GoodLife home has been the Quality Hotel & Suites for a long tenure, and also a previous women-only gym on Dundas Street. The Quality Inn facility will be closing
The new location will be co-ed and 24/7, and will be more than 33,000 sq ft.
I stopped by the sales centre to inquire about membership rates, but my best suggestions would be to visit the office on Kent Street or attend the grand opening open house.

Locally there has been quite a membership drive taking place for the past few months as the former retail location is transformed to an impressive gymnasium with rooms dedicated for exercise groups, whether it be bikes or dance, and also a nautilus area for women only.
“We are investing in the Woodstock community by creating a wonderful new facility and environment for Woodstock residents to achieve their fitness goals,” said Patchell Evans in a March story in The Sentinel-Review. “I’m confident they will be happy with the results.”
Since I have not walked through the new facility, be sure to see the website as there are renderings of the gym’s layout and a long list of amenities, programs and classes. Whether it’s cardio or strength training, cycling, yoga or dance fitness, it would appear that every need has been addressed except for a pool.
Thursday, Oct 12, 5 – 8 p.m. is the grand opening (Ribbon cutting is supposed to be at 6:30 p.m, but I’m told there will not be cake) and the doors officially open the next day (Friday The 13th) at 5 a.m.

On the website you can apply for a 3-visit trial offer.
GoodLife expansions (New locations) for this fall include Brampton, Owen Sound, Moncton and Saskatoon.
Woodstock certainly has other fitness centres, so be sure to visit all of them before committing to a membership.
