Oxford Transportation Master Plan study includes public meetings

Consulting citizens about future roads and growth

If you're interested in learning about public consultation with Oxford County staff and a group of engineers present, you should attend one of the upcoming public meetings as Oxford is currently penning the Oxford County Transportation Master Plan which is slated to be completed (and approved by County Council) by 2024.

The political process must always include input from citizens -- it doesn't matter if you're planning to build an arena, project future use of your local library, or determining a game plan for your local museum square.

In this case, Oxford County seeks your thoughts and advice on an evolving master plan for transportation, which in essence updates the 2019 document. Read the links included to learn more about the process. The County also has a 'Speak Up' function on its website to obtain opinion.  There will be a public meeting on Sept. 27at 5 p.m., but additional opportunities to look at easels and talk to staff as their county tour includes Canada's Outdoor Farm Show, Tillsonburg Ribfest, and an open house at Ingersoll town hall council chambers.

In Woodstock, the future design or possible modifications to Oxford Road 4 are always of concern with respect to connectivity both the 401 and 403.

Population projections are also part of the analysis.

With population in mind, it's interesting to note that both villages of Tavistock and Innerkip in East-Zorra Tavistock are considering residential boundary changes, which I disagree with in the case of Innerkip because Woodstock is designed and defined as both a residential and employment centre.

Even though I'm running for a City-only seat on Woodstock Council, keep in mind items on the Oxford agenda do effect happenings in The Friendly City.

Elections
In the municipal election consideration of candidates, be sure to ask any council hopeful you chat with about the entire range of topics, which include county responsibilities versus city responsibilities, but remember that your tax dollars go to Woodstock before the 'levy' amount is then assigned to Oxford and the school boards.
